This is a list of references to the regulator role in the BABOK:

• May be needed to provide approval for aspects of the business analysis approach or decisions made in tailoring the process, especially in organizations where the business analysis process is audited.

• May require that specific stakeholder representatives or groups be involved in the business analysis activities. .

• May impose rules or regulations that need to be considered when determining the business analysis governance plan. May also be a possible source of a requested change.

• May define rules and processes related to information management.

• One or many governmental or professional entities that ensure adherence to laws, regulations, or rules. Relevant regulations must be included in requirements.

• One or many governmental or professional entities that ensure adherence to laws, regulations, or rules; may have unique input to the organizational assessment, as relevant regulations must be included in the requirements. There may be laws and regulations that must be complied with prior to (or as a result of) a planned or implemented change.
