Change Assessment

A recommendation to approve, modify, or deny a proposed change to requirements and design.

(The Change Assessment artifact combines the design change assessment and the requirement Change Assessment into a single artifact.)

A Change Assessment receives input from a Proposed Change, Traceability and the Requirements to make a recommended change to the appropriate Requirements (and designs). The Project Manager uses the Change Assessment to determine any additional work to the project.

Details

A Change Assessment contains 3 attributes and 1 operation.

  • Change ID - Provides a reference to the proposed change.

  • Assessment Formality –The change approval process as determined by project governance.

  • Impact Analysis – An estimate of cost, schedule, size, importance, and benefits of the change.

  • Impact Resolution – A description of the steps to implement the change, and the impacted requirements and design.

  • Assess Requirements Change - Produces a Change Assessment.

Dependencies

Shows the artifacts the artifact under discussion is dependent on.

Requirements are dependent on Business Needs and Proposed Changes. Business Needs are input to the Business Analysis Approach, the Stakeholder Engagement Approach, and the Elicitation Activity Plan, which is the input for Elicitation Results which are input to requirements. Both Requirements and requirements Traceability contribute to the change assessment.
